Yes...the true saga continues-->the true stories of all my failed relationships. Read the first 3 chapters in the Harrington saga on the side bar to the right.
I called Harrington on Sunday and he invited me over. I went over and asked for details about the trip. He told me the standard stuff you would expect to hear...they went on the beach, had a few drinks, had a few meetings. I went to the bathroom and just happened to look in the trash can when I threw my handtowel away. I saw a condom...at that time he did not use condoms with me so I immediately became suspicious. (That was back in the day when it was just a little safer to not use protection) I asked about the condom. He said that it was an old condom he found when he was cleaning out his suitcase that must have been in his suitcase for a long time. He had forgotten it was in there, it had been in there for so long. I did not believe that answer so I began to ask more details about the trip. I got some evasive answers so I asked more direct questions. Questions like..."did you take a woman to the beach with you?", and I demanded the truth. " Yes," was the answer. I was told he took the bitch that was the one typing his papers. I was livid. He had never taken me to the beach. We had a big ole' fight and I left. We did not see each other for about 4 months. He called and said he was sorry and came bearing gifts and saying that he wanted to see just me now and like a sucker I fell for it. We were on..dating again. Things were going well for a very long time. They were going well until the Sunday my shift at work got cancelled and I decided to surprise him with an unannounced visit. It was about 11AM on that sunday morning when I arrived at his house. It pays to make an unannounced visit. You learn so much. Harrington learned. He learned that Rambo can be anyone..not just Sylvester Stallone. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Funny how the only black man is fired and not allowed to finish out his contract. Timing is everything but it seems suspicious to me.
In the hours after Ty Willingham was fired by Notre Dame, ESPN News analsyst Trevor Matich (who looks, by the way, as if he could bench-press the entire College GameDay cast) implied something was askew about Willingham's firing. Noting the Irish wins over a pair of top 10 programs (Michigan and Tennessee) this autumn and the fact that other ND coaches had struggled in their third seasons without being fired, Matich wondered aloud "if there isn't something else going on here." I'm not sure what to infer from what Matich said, but here's what I know: Two of Notre Dame's previous five coaches before Willingham, Gerry Faust and Bob Davie, did struggle in their third seasons. Davie went 5-7 and Faust 7-5. Neither improved significantly in the two more seasons they were allotted and, in retrospect, perhaps the university should have pulled the trigger on their tenures earlier. The other three coaches -- Ara Parseghian, Dan Devine and Lou Holtz? Each won a national championship in his third season in South Bend. Ty Willingham was not fired because he failed to win a national championship. Ty Willingham, who by every account is a man of impeccable integrity and character, a man possessed of both wisdom and intellect, was fired because1) under him the Irish no longer had any fight and 2) NotreDame did not want to miss out on a chance to hire Urban Meyer. It wasn't Willingham's 21-15 record that did him in so much as the manner in which Notre Dame so often lost the past three seasons. The Irish have lost by 30 or more points 20 times in their more than 118 seasons. Five of those 30-point losses occurred during Willingham's tenure. Holtz and Devine, for the record, never lost by that many. Parseghian did so twice, and one was the infamous Anthony Davis game in which USC rallied from being down 24-6 to winning 55-24. Faust lost by that margin only once, his final game, the 58-7 beatdown at Miami. For those of who attended Notre Dame and regularly check the "Cannot Attend" box on invitations to weddings that take place in autumn (unless it's specified in the invite that a big-screen TV has been secured for the reception hall), the past two seasons have been especially ignominious (see, I attended a bastion of academia!). The 38-0 shutouts by both Michigan and Florida State in 2003, for example.Or the trio of 31-point losses to Southern Cal. The eight losses by three touchdowns or more. You can make the argument that Notre Dame does not have the talent to match up with those teams, and maybe you're right. But the margin of those losses suggest something more insidious than a disparity in talent; those routs suggest that as a team (not as individuals, but as a team), Notre Dame lacks strength of character. And that flaw goes back on the coaches. September 9, 2000, was my lowest moment as a Notre Dame fan and alum. The top-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers invaded South Bend and so did their fans. So many alums had scalped their tickets to Husker fans that Notre Dame Stadium became a sea of red. The rest of us were a sea of red faces. It was embarrassing. Or ignominious. I was ashamed for Notre Dame and not one member of that football squad could have failed to notice that, by and large, their fans had sold them out (not the students; Notre Dame students are loyal to the nth degree; they're even holding a rally for Willingham on Wednesday on the steps of the administration building). ![]() VIENNA, Austria (CNN) -- Dioxin poisoning caused the disfiguring illness afflicting Ukrainian opposition presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko, doctors at an Austrian hospital said Saturday. Doctors said at a news conference that they suspect a "third party" administered the poison in September, possibly by putting it in Yushchenko's soup. In Ukraine, the prosecutor-general is reopening a probe into Yushchenko's illness, according to the Interfax news agency. A previous investigation, by another prosecutor who has since been fired, had been looking into the possibility that biological agents were used. Yushchenko faces Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych on December 26 in a repeat of last month's vote. Yanukovych was declared the official winner, but the Supreme Court threw out the results because of voting irregularities. The director of the private Rudolphinerhaus clinic in Vienna said there was no doubt that Yushchenko had eaten or drunk dioxin, but could not say whether the poisoning was intentional. "What we can say at this point is that this concentration constitutes an amount which is 1,000 times above the normal levels that you would find in blood or [skin] tissue," said Dr. Michael Zimpfer, who noted that doctors at his and other European clinics had conducted tests during the past 24 hours. What is dioxin? Dioxins and furans are some of the most toxic chemicals known to science. A draft report released for public comment in September 1994 by the US Environmental Protection Agency clearly describes dioxin as a serious public health threat. The public health impact of dioxin may rival the impact that DDT had on public health in the 1960's. According to the EPA report, not only does there appear to be no "safe" level of exposure to dioxin, but levels of dioxin and dioxin-like chemicals have been found in the general US population that are "at or near levels associated with adverse health effects." . Dioxin is a general term that describes a group of hundreds of chemicals that are highly persistent in the environment. The most toxic compound is 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin or TCDD. The toxicity of other dioxins and chemicals like PCBs that act like dioxin are measured in relation to TCDD. Dioxin is formed as an unintentional by-product of many industrial processes involving chlorine such as waste incineration, chemical and pesticide manufacturing and pulp and paper bleaching. Dioxin was the primary toxic component of Agent Orange, was found at Love Canal in Niagara Falls, NY and was the basis for evacuations at Times Beach, MO and Seveso, Italy. Dioxin is formed by burning chlorine-based chemical compounds with hydrocarbons. The major source of dioxin in the environment comes from waste-burning incinerators of various sorts and also from backyard burn-barrels. Dioxin pollution is also affiliated with paper mills which use chlorine bleaching in their process and with the production of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) plastics and with the production of certain chlorinated chemicals (like many pesticides). Agent Orange Agent Orange was an herbicide employed during the Second Indochina War commonly referred to as the Viet Nam War. Agent Orange was not the only herbicide sprayed in Vietnam although, due to its intensified usage, it is the herbicide most commonly mentioned and blamed for health problems in connection with that period in history. There were two other herbicides, an insecticide and a chemical irritant used during the Second Indochina War. They each were called by code names: Agent Blue, Agent Orange, Agent White, CS and Malathion. Agent Blue: code name for cacodylic acid (dimethyl arsenic acid; 371.5 km/m3) Agent Orange: code name for mixture of 2,4,5-T (2,4,5.-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid; 545.4 Kg/m3) and 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid; 485.1 kg/m3), altogether weighing 1 285 kg/m3; a herbicide; associated with the (2,4,5-T moiety is the impurity dioxin (2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p- dioxin). Agent White: code name for a mixture of an approximate ratio of 4:1 of 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid; 239.7 kg/m3) and picloram (4-amino-3,5,6-trichloropicolinic acid; 64.7 kg/m3) CS (o -chlorobenzalmalonitrile), an anti-personnel (harassing) agent, was used as an irritant from 1964 to 1970. Malathion (S-(1,2-dicarbethoxyethyl)-0, 0-dimethyldithiophosphate), an insecticide, was sprayed from 1967 to 1972. Agent Orange (A-O) and Agent White (A-W) contain mixtures of plant hormone mimicking compounds which destroy plants by interfering with their normal metabolism. Agent Blue (A-B) destroys vegetation by preventing plants from retaining moisture. These chemical products were used in Viet Nam during the years 1961 to 1971. The three year period from 1967 to 1969 herbicide usage was at its heaviest. A-O (61% usage) and A-W were effective against dicotyledonous plants (two leaves emerging from seed) and A-B (11% usage) was used for monocotyledonous plants (single leaf emerging from seed). A-W and A-O were used to destroy the forests of South Viet Nam while A-B was mainly used for the destruction of grain crops, particularly the staple crop of rice. The levels of usage for military operations was 20 to 40 times greater than for normal agricultural usages. These chemicals were dispensed by fixed-wing aircraft and ground troops. Loss of foliage, flower and fruit occurred within two to three weeks after spraying. Not all of the trees died and a large percentage of those surviving trees were permanently damaged. Environmentally, because it was in a tropical area, there was an increase in soil nutrient loss and an acceleration in soil erosion. Dioxin has an environmental half life of about three years or more and has shown up in the food chain. The effect of A-O on humans has been an area of intense debate for the past two decades. It has now been thoroughly established that dioxin is a very potent poison. It can cause a wide range of organ and metabolic dysfunctions. In laboratory animals dioxin has shown to be carcinogenic (causing cancer ) and teratogenic (causing birth defects) and mutagenic (causing genetic damage).

Copyright B.J. Wrights It happened in the kindergarten class, Right at the table where they were having snack. Joanie asked the question and they all sat back: "Mr. Slater? Can Santa Claus be black?" Poor Mr. Slater didn't know what to say, Christmas vacation was twenty days away. There were snowflakes to cut and Window wreaths to be hung, Christmas cards to be painted, And Christmas songs to be sung. He hadn't time to think What Christmas was about, In twenty more days, School would be out! Why couldn't they wait And ask their questions then, When mommies and daddies Were home to answer them? "Mr. Slater? Can Santa be thin? Is Santa Clause always a him?" Mr. Slater looked at twenty pairs of eyes, Twenty children of every shape and size. He ate a bit of cracker and finished his drink. "Children," he said, "I'll need some time to think." As soon as class was over, He ran down the hall, Skidded 'round a corner, Crashed into a wall. Ran up the steps to the second floor, Rapped on the window of the principal's door. "Ms. Frazer, Ms. Frazer, what can I do? The children asked these questions That now I ask of you: Can Santa Claus be black? Can Santa Claus be thin? Does Santa always have to be a him?" "Mr. Slater, it's a difficult task To find answers to the questions you ask. I think with these I'll need some assistance, But I'll get you the answers with a little persistence. Ms. Frazer turned in her swivel chair, Picked up the phone and dialed Mr. Dare. Mr. Dare was the head of the P.T.A., He called for a meeting the very next day. "Thank you for coming," He began with a greeting. "I'd like to get right to the point of this meeting. Mr. Slater, in charge of the kindergarten class, Needs the answers to some questions And he needs them fast." "Can Santa be black? Can Santa be thin? Does Santa always have to be a him?" The parents didn't know what to say, Christmas vacation was nineteen days away. There were cookies to bake and lights to string, Gifts to wrap and carols to sing. They hadn't time to think What Christmas was about, In nineteen more days School would be out! Why did children have to ask questions when Parents had no time to sit and answer them? "Well, Parents? Are there any suggestions? Do we have any answers To these difficult questions?" "Who knows best What Christmas is about? Let's ask Santa!" Someone called out in a shout. The secretary of the P.T.A. Sent a letter to Santa the very next day. The reply came back very, very fast, Addressed to Mr. Slater And the kindergarten class. Dear Mr. Slater, Dear Girls, Dear Boys, Once a storywriter caught me bringing you toys. The year he spied me opening my sack, My skin was white, my boots were black. You probably know how that story goes . . . I laid a finger aside my nose? All these years, needlessly, That story worries children who don't have a chimney. All year long I listen to the news, Read people's thoughts, see people's views. At the end of the year, when I see what's needed most, I take that shape, like a Christmas ghost. I can pass through keyholes, windows and locks, Apartment buildings, hospitals, tents, and trailer lots. One year I used a wheelchair in place of my sleigh, Once I was blind and had to feel my way. It's hard to understand when I don't leave a toy: You can't unwrap a gift like hope or health or joy. My skin has been black, white, yellow, red, brown; My eyes have been slanted, crossed, and round. Sometimes I have been a she: All these things are a part of me. You may not believe all this is true, But that's okay, boys and girls, because . . . I believe in you. --- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Santa Claus Eve originally is a Dutch and Belgian festive holiday celebrated each year on December 5th, the birthday of Saint Nicolas, abbreviated to Santa Claus. St Nicolas was a Spanish bishop and known as a great children's friend. After his death he was declared a Saint.
Santa Claus comes to town every year in November, in the first weekend of the Advent. He arrives by boat from Spain, together with his white horse and his helpers from Africa, the Black Peters. The Black Peters give out candies to the kids waiting on the street for the arrival of Santa Claus. Afterwards Santa Claus makes a tour on his white horse through the town. In the weeks that follow, kids are allowed to place their shoe under the chimney before they go to bed. They can put a carrot in their shoe, for the white horse of Santa Claus. If they have been good kids that day, they will find some candy in their shoe the next morning. It is said that Black Peter during the night climbed through the chimney to fill the shoes with candy. It is also said, that Black Peter looks so black from climbing through chimneys all the time! On the evening of 5th December, Santa Claus and his Black Peters ring at the door to bring the kids toys. However, only the good kids get toys, the naughty kids are caught by the Black Peters and when Santa Claus leaves for Spain again on the 6th December, he takes the naughty kids with him until the next year, to return them as good kids. After Santa Claus has left for Spain again, the Christmas Man arrives with his reindeers. In non European countries, like USA, the Christmas Man and Santa Claus have become one personality. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() Many African Americans have rejected the Christianity they associate with slaveowners in favor of religions with more distinctively black identities. Beginning in the early nineteenth century some individual African Americans became legends as regular worshipers at local synagogues. To this day, and in growing numbers, there are Black members of predominantly white Jewish congregations. A second source of Black Judaism was the West Indies, where some blacks converted to Judaism under the influence of Jewish plantation owners. In the late nineteenth century, some of these Jamaican Jews migrated to the United States and became the source for the first all-Black synagogues. For centuries a legend existed that Black Jews, descendants of the Queen of Sheba, had lived in Ethiopia but had long ago disappeared. The rediscovery in the late nineteenth century of the Falashas, the Black Jews of Ethiopia, by French explorer Joseph Halevy, spurred some Black people to elect Judaism as an alternative to Christianity. The first African American Jewish denomination was started by William Saunders Crowdy, a black cook for the Santa Fe railroad. In 1893, Crowdy had a vision from God calling him to lead his people to the true religion. He started preaching on the streets of Lawrence, Kansas in 1896. Crowdy preached that Africans were the descendants of the lost tribes of Israel and thus the true surviving Jews. By 1899, Crowdy had founded churches in 29 Kansas towns. He called his denomination The Church of God and Saints of Christ, which, despite its Christian-sounding name, had from the start an identification with Judaism. The Christ of the church's name refers to the still-awaited Messiah. Crowdy purchased land in Belleville, Virginia just after the turn of the century. For many years the core members of the church lived there communally. The headquarters of the church were moved to Belleville in 1917. As it evolved, the doctrine of the Church of God and Saints of Christ became a mixture of Jewish, Christian and black nationalist precepts. The Jewish elements include observance of the Jewish Sabbath and the use of Jewish terminology to describe leaders, buildings and observances. A key theme is the Exodus, the liberation of people in bondage. The year culminates in Passover, a week-long homecoming in Belleville with a ceremonial Seder. There are an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 members in over 200 churches. In 1900 charismatic black leader Warren Roberson founded the Temple of the Gospel of the Kingdom in Virginia. Members learned Yiddish and adopted Jewish cultural patterns. By 1917 the group had moved its headquarters to Harlem. There it established a communal household, called a kingdom, for members. Another kingdom near Atlantic City, New Jersey aroused controversy when media reports came out saying that it was actually a baby farm where women bore Roberson's children. Roberson was charged with transporting women across state lines for immoral purposes in 1926. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 18 months in the Atlanta Penitentiary. The movement collapsed at that point. In 1915, Prophet F. S. Cherry established the Church of God in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Cherry was influenced by both The Church of God and Saints of Christ and the Temple of the Gospel of the Kingdom. Cherry taught that God, who is black, originally created black humans, the descendants of Jacob. The first white person, Gehazi, became that way as the result of a curse. The church teaches that Jesus was a black man. Prophet Cherry's followers believe that they are the true Jews and that white Jews are impostors. The church does not use the term synagogue, the place of worship of the white Jews. Cherry read both Hebrew and Yiddish and based his teachings on the old testament and the Talmud. The church has a Saturday Sabbath and a liturgical year which focuses on Passover. The church has prohibitions against eating pork, divorce, taking photographs and observing Christian holidays. Arnold Josiah Ford was a self-proclaimed Ethiopian Jew and the choirmaster for Marcus Garvey, founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association. Coming from the West Indies, Marcus Garvey instilled within his followers and admirers a dream of a Black nation where Black men would rule. Ford tried to get Garvey to accept Judaism, but he refused. Marcus Garvey expelled Ford in 1923 and Ford soon founded the Beth B'nai Abraham congregation. The Beth B'nai Abraham congregation suffered financial problems and collapsed in 1930, whereupon Ford turned the membership over to Rabbi Wentworth Matthew. Ford then went to Ethiopia where he spent the rest of his life. Arthur Wentworth Mathew was born in Lagos, West Africa, and lived for a time in St. Kitts, British West Indies before coming to New York. Matthew had been a minister in the Church of the Living God, the Pillar and Ground of Truth, a black pentecostal church which had endorsed the Universal Negro Improvement Association founded by Marcus Garvey. In 1919 Matthew and eight other men organized the Commandment Keepers: Holy Church of the Living God. In Harlem, he had met white Jews for the first time and in the 1920s came to know Arnold Josiah Ford. Matthew began to learn Orthodox Judaism and Hebrew and acquire ritual materials from Ford. Ford and Matthew learned of the Falashas, the black Jews of Ethiopia, and began to identify with them. When Ford's congregation ran into financial trouble in 1930, the membership was put into Matthew's care and Ford moved to Ethiopia. In 1935, when Haile Selassie was crowned emperor of Ethiopia, Matthew declared his group the Falashas in American and claimed credentials from Haile Selassie. The Commandment Keepers believe that they are the lineal descendants of the ancient Hebrews by way of the Ethiopian Jews, who, although cut off from the rest of Judaism thousands of years ago, still used the Torah and claimed as their ancestors King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. They believe the biblical patriarchs to have been black. Matthew taught that the temporary ascendancy of whites was nearly over and that the end of white domination and the restoration of the true Israelites would come with a devastating atomic war in the year 2000. The Commandment Keepers maintain some contact with the mainstream Jewish community in New York City and observe a version of the kosher diet. The group's program includes study of Hebrew. Services are held on the Jewish Sabbath. Men wear yarmulkes and prayer shawls. Jewish holidays are observed with Passover being the most important. Some elements of Christianity are retained, including footwashing, healing and the gospel hymns, but the loud emotionalism of the holiness groups is rejected. The Original Hebrew Israelite Nation, or Black Israelites, emerged in Chicago in the 1960s around Ben Ammi Carter (born G. Parker) and Shaleah Ben-Israel. Carter and Ben-Israel were proponents of Black Zionism whose purpose was a return to the Holy Land by their members. Beginning in the late 1960s, they made attempts to migrate to Africa and then to Israel. The group moved first to Liberia. Soon after their arrival, they approached the Israeli ambassador about a further move to Israel, but were unable to successfully negotiate the move. In 1968, Carter and 38 Black Israelites flew directly from Chicago to Israel. The group from Liberia was then given temporary sanction and work permits, and joined them in Israel. Over 300 members of the group had migrated to Israel by 1971, when strict immigration restrictions were imposed on them. Other members of the group continued to arrive using tourist visas. By 1980, between 1,500 and 2,000 had settled in four different colonies in Israel. The Black Israelites feel they are descendants of the ten lost tribes of Israel and thus Jews by birth. They celebrate the Jewish rituals and keep the Sabbath. However, they are polygamous, with a maximum of seven wives allowed. In Israel, the group lives communally. Due to a lack of legal status, the group in Israel lives under harsh conditions and the continual threat of mass deportation. They have been unable obtain necessary additional housing for those members who immigrated illegally and the children are not allowed to attend public schools. There are approximately 3,000 members of the Black Israelites remaining in the United States. The House of Judah is a small Black Israelite group founded in 1965 by Prophet William A. Lewis. Lewis was converted to his black Jewish beliefs by a street preacher in Chicago in the 1960s. Lewis opened a small storefront on the southside and in 1971 moved his group to a twenty-two acre tract of land near Grand Junction, Michigan. The group lived quietly until 1983 when a young boy in the group was beaten to death and media attention resulted. The mother of the boy was sentenced to prison for manslaughter. By 1985 the group had moved to Alabama. The House of Judah teaches that Jacob and Judah and their descendants were black. They believe that Jerusalem, not Africa, is the black man's land. They believe that the white Jew is the devil who occupies the black man's land but will soon be driven out. Adherents believe that God will send a deliverer, a second Moses, to lead his people, the blacks, from the United States to the promised land of Jerusalem. The group consists of about 80 people living communally. The Nation of Yahweh, also called the Hebrew Israelites or the Followers of Yahweh, was founded in 1970s by Yahweh ben Yahweh, who was born Hulon Mitchell, Jr. Yahweh ben Yahweh was the son of a Pentecostal minister and at one point joined the Nation of Islam. Yahweh ben Yahweh teaches that there is one God, whose name is Yahweh, and who is black with woolly hair. Yahweh ben Yahweh says that he is the son of God, who has been sent to save and deliver the black people of America. Black people are considered to be the true lost tribe of Judah. Members, upon joining, renounce their slave names and take the surname Israel. Many members wear white robes as commanded in the Bible. They believe that all people who oppose God are devils, regardless of race or color. The Nation of Yahweh sees itself as establishing a united moral power to benefit the total community of America. It supports voter registration, education, business opportunities, scholarships for children, health education, better housing, strong family ties, and harmony among people regardless of race, creed or color. The corporate entity of the church is the Temple of Love, which has purchased several hotels and apartment buildings and more than 42 businesses which are used to support the organization and its members. In 1991, Yahweh ben Yahweh and 15 of his followers were arrested on a variety of charges including racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder. At a trial in the spring of 1992, Yahweh ben Yahweh and seven of his co-defendants were convicted of the conspiracy charges, but were not convicted of racketeering. Yahweh ben Yahweh is in jail pending appeal. The United Hebrew Congregation was a group of several congregations of black Jews which were centered upon the Ethiopian Hebrew Culture Center in Chicago in the mid-1970s. The group was headed by Rabbi Naphtali Ben Israel. These congregations adhered to the beief that Ham's sons, including the Hebrews of the Bible, were black. Sabbath services were held on Saturday. The group appears to be defunct. Other small black Jewish groups in the United States include the B'nai Zakin Sar Shalom, the Moorish Zionist Temple and Rabbi Ishi Kaufman's Gospel of the Kingdom Temple. Bibliography. A. H.
